Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28
Verses 27-32 in the gospel of Matthew are some tough ones to many of us, and I am definitely in that group. The verses talk about adultery, and divorce, and in this day and age, not many of us have escaped these two things. I’m divorced and I’m remarried, so these verses hit home with me, and make me a bit uneasy, to say the least. So what’s my answer?
From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Mattthew 4: 17
I have repented, and I do my best every day to love God and allow Him to make me into the person He needs me to be. I’m not perfect, and I still make mistakes, but my heart is being constantly filled with the things of God, because those are the things I focus on. I leave you with the following verses:
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
