Take Your Best Shot!
You got nothing!
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16
The fiery arrows and darts of the evil one can often come in the form of hurtful words. The words may not even be directed at you personally, but at someone you care about; or, for that matter, someone you barely know. I had an instance like this recently, where someone I care about made a snide remark about another person I care about. It bothered me, but it also made me think about all the times I’d done the same thing.
Rather than allow the situation or my past errors get me down, I considered the fact that the evil one—Satan—uses us against one another. I cast the bad feelings aside and turned my attention to the good things of God, placing the shield of faith in the path of those negative thoughts. The arrows and darts suddenly became mere sticks, their points dull and harmless. I realized they were nothing more than vaporous thoughts which could not exist while God was foremost in my mind and when my faith was firmly in Him.
The shield of faith; it’s an awesome thing!

You’ve said it Charles! We often get mad at a person and it became personal. But when directed at another, ie Satan who caused the dissension it’s easier to take a positive stance. We then correct ourselves and remain friends with all others. Great thoughts!

Hi Charles…though I don’t have this ‘shield of faith’ ( I wish I did) I definitely had a shield of negativity.
My depression was constant, and until I (just recently) realized that I was ‘acting out’ a very disturbed relative (mother) who has the word ‘hate’ on her tongue constantly….I was falling into the same behavior..and everything around me was suffering….besides myself.
So, I realized that gratitude…simple gratitude was what I needed to bring to the surface….gratitude for the morning, for breath, for the passage of days, for the greenery around me, for so much….
….well, it turned me around. Perhaps this is that of God working in a very doubting soul.
Good and instructive article, Charles… Thank you!
