God Likes Redneck Prayer, Too! ~ July 18

God Likes Redneck Prayer, Too!

We don’t need no thees, thous, and such!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Not so easy to do in this chaotic world we find ourselves in, but what a blessing when we can manage to do it. It being, “Do not be anxious about anything.” It’s all about peace—inner peace, the peace of God—and to me, it is the ultimate goal, and something I see getting better all the time. As I learn more about God, seek Him, and love Him, I find it much easier to face the day’s challenges calmly and without fear. I’m learning that no matter what comes my way, God is there with me, and together we can climb any mountains we might encounter.

One of the keys to Godly peace is talking to God constantly as we go through our day. Like the verse says, we must thank Him as we present our requests to Him. I like to use a simple little prayer when a challenge comes at me: “Me and you, God. Let’s gitter done.” I know, it’s a bit irreverent, but I believe God respects redneck prayer just as much as He does prayers with all those thee’s, thou’s, and other fancy words.

We must stay close to God, talking to Him, trusting Him, and knowing He is with us all the time. He will never leave us or forsake us.

Do not be anxious about anything!

Prayer is a conversation with your very best friend and confidant. One who is honest (even if it is not what you want to hear), wise and will not steer you wrong.

Thank you! I remember as a child hearing people pray with those words Thee, Thou and even Thus. It was very confusing to me. It is so wonderful that the Holy Spirit interprets even our grownings. Good thoughts!

He talks to us how we talk.
I found no irreverence at all.
    Just keep talking!
