It’s Right There!
Just a little beyond my reach
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Can you even grasp the meaning of such a concept as total peace? It’s one of those things that seem to always be just beyond my reach. But it’s there! It’s available to us! And I want it!
There are times when I think I’ve found total peace—the peace of God—but it seems each time I think I’ve found it the world in some form snatches it from me. It seems there is always another challenge to face or another mountain to climb. But! I think we can truly say we’ve found the peace of God when those challenges and mountains confront us, and we are able to smile at them and say, “No problem.”
That is peace at its most powerful… when we can face our challenges and mountains, knowing we will overcome them. When, even in what may seem an impossible situation, we can display peace that transcends all understanding (others will think we’ve gone off the deep end) facing the situation boldly and confidently, smiling as we wade into the fray.
We can do this because we trust God, we love God and He fills us with a peace others cannot comprehend. Our hearts and minds are guarded by Him, and we fear no challenge, no mountain or foe.
Ah, yes, the peace of God.
