How Long Should I Give Him? ~ August 17

How Long Should I Give Him?

Sorry, that’s not for you to decide!

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:24

A friend of mine wants to sell his house and move to another state. He has a dream, and is praying things will work out so he can pursue it. I haven’t talked to him much about it but, as is typically the case, he needs to sell the house he’s in before he can make an offer on the one he wants to buy.

We had a brief chat on-line the other day, and I told him I was praying his house would sell, and to hang in there, because if it’s God’s will it will all happen in His timing. My friend jokingly replied, “How long do you think I should give Him?”

Too many times, we do put time constraints on our prayers; especially when they are about something we want. Our attitude is, we want it and we want it now! And if we don’t get what we want when we want it, we come to the quick conclusion it must not be God’s will. And, that may very well be the case for reasons He knows and we don’t. Or, it might just be He has things worked out, but the timing isn’t right.

I told my buddy it was all going to work out and, in the meantime, he should enjoy the beautiful home he lives in. Therewith be content.

  1. I totally agree with you on this point but as a former owner of a real estate company not only did we pray in the office every day and praise Him for our abundant blessings we also planted St. Joseph in the yards of homes we needed to sell. You can buy these from Amazon and they work. I had a fsbo (for sell by owner) that had been trying to sell for over a year we all thought he was asking too much. After 3 months of trying to list his property or let me have one time showings he finally relented and let me list it. I listed his home for 25 thousand more than he wa asking as he had a lot more than any of us knew as we hadn’t been in the house. the day I put my sign in the yard I asked the seller to pray with me and help me “plant” St Joe . 2 days later I had a cash buyer for this 376,000 dollar property . st Joseph works and did many many times 7 out of ten times in my 17 yrs in real estate.

All in God’s good time . . . and we sometimes have to step out in faith.

  3. It is amazing how patience seems to have gone out the window. Wanting it and wanting it NOW only delays the process. All in God’s time. . .
