Charles in Charge ~ August 18

Charles in Charge

Or, so I’d like to think

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 2Peter 2:2

Charles in Charge was a sitcom in the eighties about a college student whose job was babysitting and other household chores for a family in exchange for room and board. It was a comedy show and naturally there were lots of problems. Charles was constantly reminded he was not in charge, and it was a hectic fulltime job just keeping up with the kids.

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? It’s how most of us live our lives; just trying to keep up. Our world has become so fast-paced, we think we have to keep moving or get left behind. It often seems we’re in a rat race and the rats are winning!

Not true; the reason we are being pulled along, or are following along, in the headlong rush to nowhere, is because we’re putting our trust in things of the world. If we focus on God and allow our lives to be guided by Him, we will soon find we are not only able to keep up with, but surpass the mad crowds rushing here and there and getting nowhere.

It’s not a matter of how fast we get there; it’s a matter of where we’re going, and what we accomplish along the way. If you’re not sure where you’re going, turn to God and focus on Him. He’s got a plan, and you’re part of it.

Hello Charlie, This was a special marble from you. Thank you. I read and have said for several years…”Getting it absolutely right is God’s job”, and this just fit that perfectly. I visited Shirley Younce this past week, and she remembers your Mom very well. I try to see the Homebounds from the church at least once a week. It is a blessing to me and I think to them also. My mom and grandma gave me that legacy. Blessings to you and your marbles. Verlyne Meck

  3. Charles, if you want to make God laugh, tell Him YOUR plans!
