Not Because Nothing Has Changed
But because everything has
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28
I’m finishing the year 2012 with the same verse I started it with, not because nothing has changed, but because everything has. If we had gone through an entire year without anything changing, I think we could safely say we were stuck in a rut.
Me, I have come to Jesus each morning, and did my best to keep Him in the forefront of my life throughout each day. As you probably know, the latter part of that is not so easy to do. The world does its best to drag our attention to the things of it, and our heads are so easily turned by its enticements.
I have learned much from Him this year, and yet still I know so little. What I do know, is His yoke is easy, His burden is light, and as He imparts His words to me and they seep into my soul, I find myself at rest.
The theme/title for the coming year’s encouragements is, “Are We There Yet”. The answer, for me at least, is, “No.” I have much to learn and the road before me is long, but I intend to remain on it, my eyes fixed on Jesus. You’re welcome to come along if you’d like.
