If Anyone Happens to Ask
I didn’t do it!
For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13
One of the hardest things to do in relation to understanding God and how He works in our lives is admitting we are not good. And right behind that one comes the admitting that all the good we do is meaningless if He does not do it through us.
Our problem stems from the fact we all want to think we’re good because we want to be good, when the reality is the only thing we’re good at is acting good. And in most cases, we’re terrible actors!
A good example is my language. I used to cuss like the proverbial sailor, and never gave it a second thought. I’m not going to say I don’t let loose a stray blue streak every now and then these days, but for the most part, my language is cleaned up. My point is, I did not decide one day to stop using bad language. It just seemed to go away. And it’s certainly no surprise to me that it went away about the time I started focusing on God and writing daily encouragements.
And the more I focus on God, the more He seems to change me. And there’s the point; I didn’t decide to change anything about myself, I simply gave myself to Him and I’m letting Him work in me so that I will act according to His good purpose.
So, if anyone happens to ask; I didn’t do it!

Very good! I like seeing posts like this around the web. It’s always so refreshing to me when I read something that reminds me how great Our Lord is. I do need reminders often in my busy days… Yes, God is in control. Thank you for reminding me.
