I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 8-25-11

In this morning’s Daily Encouragement, I talked about how hot it has been here and how long it’s been since we had any rain. I said God would cool things off, and He would send rain—in His timing. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-24-11

I was looking at my blog statistics a few minutes ago, and I noticed something interesting. The statistics tell me how many people have visited my blog, and what posts they have read. The thing I noticed was a lot of people missed church today. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-23-11

In today’s Daily Encouragement I said, “I have made the statement many times, “I am just the pencil.” I do not write these encouragements to you from a knowledgeable point of view, because the reality of the situation is I have little knowledge of God’s word and His principles. What I do have is a sincere desire to encourage others to love Him.” Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-22-11

The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He awakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. Isaiah 50:4

This verse from today’s Daily Encouragement is one of the best verses I have ever come across. To think that God awakens me each morning, and not only that, awakens my ear to listen like one being taught is an awesome revelation to me. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-21-11

In this morning’s Daily Encouragement I said, “I get up early—sometimes so early it worries Sherry—and I am almost always excited to start my day here at this desk, pounding these keys. I am most excited when I write these encouragements.”

In this morning’s encouragement I said, “We all struggle to understand what life is about; we get confused by all the information thrown at us from so many directions, and we begin to wonder what is true and what is deception.”

Football is very much a game of deception, and I learned some life lessons playing it. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-19-11

When it comes to choosing the path we will follow in this lifetime, most people tend to take the easy road because there are so many things more appealing to our carnal minds and bodies on that path. It’s a live for today mentality, with no thought to what comes after we are finished with this earthly life. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-16-11

In today’s Daily Encouragement, I talked about how worrying is basically a waste of time and accomplishes little or nothing. I ended the encouragement by saying “we should dwell on the good things, attack the bad things, and do the best you can every day.” That’s very easy for me to say; but not always easy for me, or anyone, to do. I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-15-11

I talk a lot about my yard and the beautiful flowers in it. In this morning’s Daily Encouragement, I mentioned the crepe myrtles in our front yard and commented how badly we need rain. It’s the same way all over Texas, worse in some than in others. Read the rest of this entry »
