Daily Encouragement – 6/16

June 16

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Psalm 90:14

So much, in so few words. Where do I begin to speak of what this verse says?

As you all probably know by now, I love mornings. I rise early, and much of the early morning it’s just me and God. He speaks to me, in silent words from His heart to mine. I sometimes feel as a child, sitting on my Father’s knee with my head laid against His chest, hearing nothing but the sound of His loving heart. I am overwhelmed by His unfailing love.

I do sometimes sing in the morning—often not out loud, but only in my mind and heart. I sing the old hymns, praising Him and letting Him know I love Him as much as He loves me…. if that is even possible.

And then…. I jump down from His lap and go into the day, where I am often quickly swallowed by the cares and turmoil of this world we live in. Why is it we cannot hold tight to His hand, as a toddler holding to his father’s hand, as we traverse the rugged roads of our days? I want so badly to be able to feel His presence—His hand on my shoulder—every minute of every day. Why is it I cannot?

The day will come—perhaps not while I inhabit this body and dwell on this earth—but it will come. He tells me this in the morning as He envelopes me in His unfailing love, and it causes me to sing for joy. It causes me to be glad all my days.

My God, how great thou art!
