I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-20-11

In this morning’s encouragement I said, “We all struggle to understand what life is about; we get confused by all the information thrown at us from so many directions, and we begin to wonder what is true and what is deception.”

Football is very much a game of deception, and I learned some life lessons playing it. I learned to look beyond the obvious to determine what was really going on. When a player hinted he was going to the right, I could discern he was more likely about to go left. The more I played, the more I was able to tell what the other guy, or team, was about to do. I could read the signs, and determine the logical course of action the other team might take.

In many ways, life is no different than the game of football; if we pay close attention, we can tell the truth from the attempt to deceive. When we become adept at doing that, we will be able to make good decisions and not be fooled.
