Daily Encouragement – 7/31

July 31

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. Proverbs 21:1

This is a comforting thought. Too many times we see and hear of rulers who are evil and wicked, and we wonder how God can allow them to be in charge of a country or region. I like to believe God is in charge, whether that evil ruler thinks so or not. I am of the opinion that sooner or later the bad king will answer for the terrible things he has done to his people.

Many times, rulers get into office by deceiving people, and in the case of monarchies they get there for no reason other than their bloodlines. I am not a fan of monarchies. I believe a ruler of any kind has to be a leader, and leaders—in my opinion—are not born, they are developed.

Regardless of how a person gets into a position of authority, God is still in charge. I believe that. I believe it doesn’t matter if the ruler is good or bad; his heart is controlled by God, and when all is said and done, God’s plan will be accomplished.

No matter if men in positions of authority think they are in charge, we know better. In the end, God will decide. Everything!
