I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 8-1-11

This morning I posted a story, As Of This Morning, wherein I talked about the ordinary life I have lived, and my attempt to share the things I have seen and done with you—my readers. Today, I am happy to report, was not an ordinary day.

In recent years I have not enjoyed birthdays. They seemed to me, much ado about nothing; just another ordinary day in an ordinary life. But I have changed some in the last year or two, and I must confess, today was one of the best birthdays I have ever had.

I spent much of the day alone—writing and answering Facebook friends’ happy birthday wishes. I felt a need to thank each one as they came; I don’t know why. I know it wasn’t expected of me, but I felt as though you were all here throughout the day, stopping in to say hello, and give me a hug, a handshake, or a pat on the back. Yes, I might have been physically alone, but all day long, I felt surrounded by loving friends.

Thank you all for making my day so special.

And thank you, Sherry, for loving me and making me feel I am so much more than an ordinary man.

There is nothing ordinary about you, Charlie. I love you more than I can express.

  2. Happy birthday!
