Bull Riding Fools!

Yep, yep, yep, rode me a few back in the day. Can you say LOL! Not this guy! I like to talk about how I ain’t afraid of much of nothing, but getting on the back of an angry two ton beast is not what I call brave. I call it asking for big trouble. I’ve done some crazy stuff, but riding a bull is not one of them. I might try one of those in a bar, where there’s a padded floor to land on…. maybe.

But we rode some small steers when we were kids. I don’t remember if Ken tried it, but me and Billy did. I told you about Flay Randolph in my story, Quick Draw, and when we were kids, Flay and Irene were friends with my parents. We used to go out to his small ranch outside of Buckeye to visit, and it was great. They had horses and cattle, and Flay would let us ride and do about anything we wanted to.

What we did sometimes, was sit on the fence where they kept some of the yearlings, and we’d wait for one to walk close enough so we could jump on its back. Sometimes the steer would buck, but most of the time it would just take off running. Either way, we’d get dumped in the dirt (and other stuff), and we thought it was great fun being “bull riders”.

I’ve always had an affinity for bull riders . . . it’s how they look in those jeans, and honey, you look GOOD!
