Daily Encouragement ~ 2/26

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26

This is one of those scenes that is somewhat amusing to me. I picture Jesus—exhausted and finally getting some rest—and here come the disciples, climbing over each other to get to Him, babbling about the storm and the boat being swamped; like a twelve stooges movie.Jesus probably shook His head sadly, and in today’s vernacular thought to Himself, “Are you kidding me? These guys obviously haven’t noticed all the miracles I’ve been doing.” Then he goes out on the deck and tells the storm to knock it off; and it does!

Can you imagine the looks exchanged by the disciples? Wow! And of course there had to be one or two trying to look cool and saying, “I knew there was nothing to worry about.”

But, seriously, do you believe Jesus is the Son of God? Do you believe He is the way, the truth and the life? Do you have faith that He will see you safely through any and every storm? If these things are true, Why are ye fearful?

It was great meeting today. I’m always fascinated in the small connected world in which we live. I appreciate your comments on fear and faith. They seem to be the most prevalent opposing forces in our lives. We fear to trust God completely; to rely completely upon Him. I believe God not only want us to be believe in Him, but He wants us to believe Him.

    • Yes, it was great, Eric! Though I don’t know them well, I enjoy my occasional encounters with Joan, Marie, Virginia and Matson. And, yes, it often turns out to be a very small world. I also lived in Corpus Christi for a year or so in my early twenties. I managed the Shakey’s Pizza Parlor on Everhart. It’s been gone for years, but was a jumping place back then.
I’m very glad you visited my blog, and I hope you’ll stop by again. My daily encouragements are not preachy, but merely meant to encourage whoever might read them. If you read the “about page” on my blog, you already know pretty much what I’m up to. Just an ordinary guy, trying to serve God the best I can.
You and Joan—maybe the kids, too—might enjoy some of my poems and stories. Take a look when you have some time.
I look forward to seeing you and your family again. Have a great Sunday!

This was wonderful! This is something that everyone needs to hear so I had to share. Being fearful seems to be something that so many people are experiencing right now and truth is because we are God’s children we have nothing to fear. Be blessed.

    • I think you will enjoy the first 100 or so pages of Be Still. My original intent was to write a year of encouragements based on not being afraid, but I ran out of verses on the subject.
Thanks for the great words of encouragement, Elizena. You bless me!
