I Want it Now!

Sound familiar?

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:6

It is interesting that Paul makes note of the fact, that at the time of Jesus’ death, we were still powerless. I take that to mean when we were under the law—before Christ took our sins upon Himself—we were powerless to gain our own forgiveness. God knew this, and in His own perfect timing, provided His free gift of grace for us—the ungodly.

We all struggle with God’s timing; we’re impatient and want our prayers answered right away, in the way we want them answered. But God—loving parent that He is—knows what’s best and grants our requests when He knows they will accomplish what His plan requires. In the meantime, all we have to do is love Him and keep our minds and hearts set on Him. Our wants and desires are usually not as important as we think they are; our impatience is a human trait, not a godly one.

Be patient. Good things come to those who wait on the Lord, expecting His very best.
