Tears of Joy
For you and me
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7-8
Jesus went beyond what we might do when He died for the ungodly. A man—you or me—might give our life in defense of a good man, but even that is doubtful. Jesus gave his life for even the worst of us.
The fact that Jesus died for me is hard to understand and sometimes when I think about it I feel ashamed for not appreciating the awesome gift He gave me—the gift of love.
That’s what God gave us when He allowed His son to die on the cross, and too many times we take that awesome gift, and Him, for granted. We wander through life, paying Him no heed most of the time, except when things aren’t going the way we think they should go. We seem to have no problem turning to Him then and seeking His protection and blessings.
Think about Jesus hanging on that cross; think of the pain, and the tears streaming down his face. Did you know his tears were tears of joy; joy in knowing he had set you and me free… forever; tears of joy, knowing He would spend eternity with His father… and you… and me.
