What Should We Do? ~ August 26

What Should We Do?

Stand up!

Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets. Luke 6:22-23

So many times we feel oppressed by those that have sway over our lives…. our boss, the government, and even those that have more money than we do. What we have to understand is this is nothing new.

This applies to all things, but especially when we are treated badly or unfairly because of our belief in Jesus. I have to admit it doesn’t happen very often; or does it?

When fringe groups and small factions of people protest Christian’s rights to pray or display banners of faith at public schools, or even to voice their religious beliefs, are they not hating, excluding, insulting, and rejecting us because of Jesus? I believe they are.

So what should we do?

We should stand up for our rights with regard to prayer and display of Christian banners and freedom of speech regarding our beliefs, and we should leap for joy. Regardless of the outcome—whether or not those who come against us succeed in their efforts to silence our prayers and voices, and remove our banners—we should rejoice, knowing we have stood firmly against their persecution.

Great is our reward in heaven!
