Love is Not a Part-time Thing ~ September 26

Love is Not a Part-time Thing

Unless you only want part-time results

Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:37-38

Love is the beginning, the middle and the end of what God is all about. His first commandment and His greatest commandment is simply to love Him. When we do that, He takes it from there, but the trick is to do it with every breath you take.

Not that I can do that. Or can I? Perhaps it is possible to keep love stored in our heart and still go on with our day. It’s one of those things I often feel like I’m right on the edge of figuring out.

I think God’s love is available to us all the time; we just have to let it in. We can get to a point where no matter what is happening, the thought that God loves us and we love Him will always be there, right on the edge of our every conscious thought. I believe if we love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind, He will never be far from us and will be there each and every time we need Him.

The key word in today’s verse and encouragement is all. To experience all God has for us, we have to love Him all the way, all the time. Part-time is okay too, but you’ll only get part-time results.

God loves us All the time; I should love Him all the time, too.
