Part Time Love Won’t Do
Got to be full time, full tilt
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Romans 12:9
If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. I believe this to be true; especially when you’re talking about love, and even more so when you’re talking about loving God. There’s only one way to love God, and that is to do it full tilt, no holds barred. To just love God when it’s convenient or to the degree you think works for the moment is to not love Him at all.
Hating evil is not a part-time thing either. You can’t pick and choose what evils you will hate, you have to hate it all. But how do we know what’s evil? Well, my simple mind tells me if we love God full time, full tilt, we’ll know the answer to that question.
My simple mind also tells me that when we love God all the way, with all our heart, we will not only cling to what is good, but it will begin to cling to us.
I can’t say that I love God as much as I possibly can, that I have cast everything evil from my life, and that I consistently cling to what is good. But I want to, and I strain toward the day when I can say I do.
I mean that sincerely.
