Too Late to Turn Back Now! ~ December 28

Too Late to Turn Back Now!

But who would want to!

For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.   Romans 6:14

It appears this verse is saying we will not sin if we have God’s grace, but I must remind you we are only human, and it is our nature to sin. What the verse does say is sin will no longer have power over us if we are wrapped in God’s grace. Though we might sin—break the laws of God—we will not lose the grace He has given us. This doesn’t mean we can just go on our happy way, sinning, because we know there is no penalty for it.

When we accept Jesus as our savior and commit to loving Him and the Father, we are then clothed in His grace and He washes all our sins away. And as our love for God grows, and we realize how very much he loves us, the desire to sin begins to wane. When this truly begins to happen we are powerless to stop it and there is no turning back.

Somewhere in the Bible it says man cannot serve two masters. If you love and serve God, you will not be able to love and serve sin. I believe it’s just that simple.

So the choice is an easy one. God calls. We come. We serve.

Once heard a pastor say….”Just because we are children of God, we cannot think like children in that we can choose to “sin and pray”. We “pray not to sin”.
