I Can’t Keep Up!

Things are moving too fast!

But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8

They say when a good football player—especially a quarterback—begins to truly understand the game his confidence grows tremendously, causing the game to seem to slow down for him. A good quarterback studies film for many hours each week, attempting to understand and anticipate all that will happen during each and every play of the game. Because of that study, and his experience in previous games, he is able to see each part of the action around him in slow motion. He is then able to click through the activities on the field until he sees the right option.

How much more so can this be true of God? He not only has the confidence and understanding of all that is going on, He actually drew up all the plays. He’s not only seen it all before, he planned each and every part of each and every play.

This same theory can hold true for us with regard to our walk with God. If we study His word and focus on Him, we will begin to see things from His perspective. As we learn more about Him, and better understand Him, things will slow down for us make more sense, and we’ll make better decisions.
