Travel Light ~ April 11

Travel Light

Everything you need is already there

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Philippians 3:13

This verse is the epitome of Christian life, and the essence of what loving God is all about; the love God has for us and the love we should desire to return to Him. Unfortunately, we have failed in our quest to love God, but the good news is, we can try again…. and again. Our desire to love God with all our heart and soul should be our quest; our reason for living. We should be filled with hope, ever straining toward what is ahead.

I seek God, often feeling I am far from finding Him, but holding onto the hope that I am always getting closer. I continue to strain toward what is ahead, forgetting what is behind.

We should travel light, carrying nothing and knowing when we arrive at the next station or terminal, our provisions will have been delivered there prior to our arrival. God knows our every need and we would do well to allow Him to provide for them. Our nature is to carry far too many unnecessary things, which slow us down and delay our arrival at the destination He has planned for us.

Where we were—even one minute ago—brought us to where we are, but has nothing to do with where we are going.
