Don’t Rent Out Space ~ April 13

Don’t Rent Out Space

In your mind

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8

In these times we live in, it is almost impossible to think only about good things. The stress we are under to meet the demands of our lives is at times so overwhelming we forget there are good things. But, what came first, the demands, or the stress? And, where did they come from? Could it be the bad comes from not focusing on the good? Can it be said then, we put these demands and stress upon ourselves?

I can only answer these questions from my own experiences, and the only one I need to answer—for my own peace of mind—is the one about where the bad comes from. I have found that by focusing on God—is there anything more good than Him—the bad becomes less and less important.

When we focus on the bad things of this world, allowing negative thoughts to dominate our thinking, we are in essence renting space in our mind to the devil, allowing him to crowd out the good things. Evict him! Problem solved!
