I’m So Broke ~ June 4

I’m So Broke

I can’t pay attention

While we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Titus 2:13

The saying, “I’m so broke, I can’t pay attention”, is a play on words, but has some truth to it. When we’re struggling financially, we’re sometimes so stressed we lose sight of reality. But if we can step back and focus on the situation, we can usually begin to solve the problem. I’ve been financially down many times, yet I’ve always been able to dig my way out of the hole. I’ve learned no matter how bad it might look, there is always hope.

I’ve also learned if I focus on God and accept His free gift of grace, I don’t slip into the debt trap as easily. Things just seem to go better for me when my sights are set on God. Could it be when we make God our first priority, He guides us away from those things that will do us harm? Could it be when our hope is in the return of our God and Savior, we live more self-controlled, upright and godly lives?

The answer to those questions is, Yes! Put your hope where your heart is…. Or perhaps, put your heart where your hope is. Focus on what is important—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Much sound sense here — not as common as it used to be, I fear.

“Put your heart where your hop is”. I love that. Very nice piece of encouragement.
