Too Much Information! ~ June 17

Too Much Information!

Now I’m confused!

And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” Luke 24:41

This makes me smile. Was Jesus was joking, asking the disciples if they had anything to eat. It seems that way, but maybe He was simply showing them that He was indeed risen and with them in the flesh.

The fact is, the disciples were so amazed and joyful Jesus had risen, they just couldn’t believe it. Have you ever had an experience too amazing to believe? You and I have probably never had one as amazing as the disciples were experiencing, but we’ve all had times when we were overwhelmed by something; a time when things were just too much to comprehend.

Sometimes we do get overwhelmed by the things of God. Unfortunately, too many times it’s not because of joy and amazement, but because of confusion—confusion caused by too much information. Often, in our desire to know and be close to God, we try to take in too much, and it all begins to get jumbled up and we find ourselves trying to make sense of it all, rather than experiencing the goodness of it.

Our walk with God is one that will last forever. Slow down; take it one step at a time (baby steps, remember). It’s never going to end, so what’s the rush? Enjoy the journey.
