Home Alone ~ June 22

Home Alone

And I ain’t skeert!

But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are in his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast. Hebrews 3:6

In the movie, “Home Alone”, a young boy gets left behind and has to defend himself and the family home against a couple of knucklehead burglars. The kid does so in quite comedic fashion, but he also endures the ordeal with uncommon bravery. Oh, he emits the occasional scream every now and then, but they are usually screams of surprise, more than yelps of terror.

Sometimes, I feel like that little kid. Here I am in this great big world, doing my best to fight off a host of unsavory characters, and I often feel very alone. Many times, I have nothing to cling to but the hope that one day I will find safety and comfort in the loving arms of our Father.

The young boy in the movie had faith his parents would return and save Him from the bad guys, and because of that faith, he was able to do what it took to survive until they came to his rescue. We can do the same thing by keeping our sights on God and knowing He will get us through the tough times. We know He’s coming back for us, and we should know too, He will not let the bad guys get us before He gets here.
