Big Rock or Little Rock ~ June 25

Big Rock or Little Rock

Size doesn’t matter

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24

The spreading of God’s love can be like ripples on the surface of a lake when a rock is tossed into it. A small splash sends waves rushing in a widening circle and though they cannot be seen, they continue on beneath the surface for a great distance—sometimes even to the far shores. The size of the waves and their impact on the water are a direct result of the size of the rock. A small rock will send small waves and a larger rock will send larger waves. But no matter the size of the rock, waves result.

The same is true when we encourage each other. We toss our bits of wisdom and learning to those in our pool of influence, and it spreads to all those in its wake. Sometimes it makes a big splash and large waves, other times it hardly splashes at all and the waves soon vanish.

Whether they be pebbles of wisdom or foundation-size rocks, toss them into the pond. Someone, somewhere, might get caught up in the wave it causes and be carried on its waves to the shore where God waits for them.

As for how we may spur one another, consider loving God. He will fill you with His love and your life and your hope will be the cause of good deeds that will encourage those around you.
