I Got the Job! ~ June 26

I Got the Job!

I was the only applicant!

But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 2 Peter 3:13-14

We don’t wish we could spend eternity with God, we plan to. That is hope; planning our future based on information which tells us our destination and assures our success in arriving there. As we anticipate our future with God and look forward to it, we should prepare for our arrival.

I’ve said before I believe our relationship with God is an individual relationship. Preparation for spending eternity with God is kind of like going to a job interview where you know you’re the only applicant, and you’re going to get the job. You can go there with complete confidence—you are at peace about the situation; and you can know that nothing you’ve done in the past will disqualify you—you are blameless; but will you show up in a dirty T-shirt and cut-off  jeans? No, even though you know you’re “in” you will want to look your best—be found spotless.

God will accept us just as we are, but He wants us to be the best we can be. Upon our arrival, He wants to turn to those around Him and proclaim, “He’s here! Doesn’t he look great!”
