Rich, But Not Famous ~ July 5

Rich, But Not Famous

I resemble that remark!

Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him? James 2:5

We are all equal in God’s sight. It doesn’t matter if we’re rich or poor, we’re all rich in God’s love. It is sometimes easier for the poor man to follow the Lord than it is for the rich man, because, too often, the rich man gives more attention to his money and possessions than he does to the Lord.

But that’s not always the case. I’m sure there are rich and poor alike who love the Lord with equal fervor. And I’m sure the opposite is just as true. Sometimes a poor man can spend so much time trying not to be poor, he has no time left for God. The thing is, money and possessions can become our main focus in life, no matter how much or how little we have. The world sings its siren song to us all day, every day, doing its best to convince us that more—and bigger—is better.

Like I said yesterday, I’m certainly no star; I get caught up in worldly things just like you do. But more and more, I desire to be rich in faith!

Loving God… now that’s gold!
