Make Mine Medium-Well ~ July 10

Make Mine Medium-Well

But don’t burn it!

But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. Ephesians 4:7

Webster defines grace as unmerited divine assistance given man for his regeneration and sanctification. He defines regeneration as spiritual renewal or revival.

We are all sinners, and were it not for Jesus, we would remain sinners and have no hope of sanctification. God allows us to experience the trials and troubles of this world so we can understand His love and goodness. We cannot understand what it is to be holy, if we never experience the troubles of this world.

It’s like a good steak; until fire was discovered, I can’t imagine a steak was very tasty. (I’m not your make-mine-rare kind of guy.) But when someone discovered a good searing made a raw piece of meat taste mighty good, steak was suddenly a very popular thing—after it was subjected to fire.

Likewise, until we experience the fires of worldly troubles and trials, we can’t appreciate the goodness—the holiness—of God. As I continue to gain knowledge about God, and better understand the enormity of His love for us, the fires seem not so hot. It seems as though He cools the flames with His peace and love as He regenerates and sanctifies me with unmerited divine assistance.
