Pedal to the Metal! ~ July 12

Pedal to the Metal!

But, no swerving!

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

I tend to swerve a bit. My hope and my faith are strong, but too many times, when trouble suddenly appears, I swerve to avoid it, rather than facing it head on, knowing God will see me through it.

It’s a bit like one of those radically transformed vehicles they call funny cars; they go about a million miles an hour for about two hundred feet, and the drivers of them are fearless and have a pedal-to-medal-I’m-gonna-win-this-race attitude. Many times, the demands they place on the car are more than it can withstand, and can result in scary fire-filled explosions and flying car parts. The drivers know they must believe the car can do what they want it to do in order to win the race. They also know if something goes wrong, they’re protected by their fire suit and the design of the car. And, the car can usually be repaired and ready to race again very quickly. Oh, and by the way, when you’re going a million miles an hour there is no swerving!

We should live our lives, loving God with a pedal-to-the-medal attitude, knowing He will protect us, and if anything should bring us harm, He can fix it.

Be confident and hold unswervingly to your course. God is faithful—He promised He would be.
