The Breakfast of Champions~ July 19

The Breakfast of Champions

It doesn’t come in a box!

Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:13

As I read this verse, a portion of the Lord’s prayer came to mind; “Give us this day our daily bread.” I sense that our daily bread is not merely the food we need to nourish our bodies, it is also the love, faith, trust, hope, and knowledge we need to sustain our hearts and minds.

I spend some time with God each morning, reading, writing, and learning about Him, and I’ve come to need this communion with Him as much as I need food and water. I find when I am away from Him—when my thoughts become too absorbed in worldly matters—I begin to feel weak and helpless. But, as my love for God grows, I am quicker to realize the symptoms, and I return to where His bread is stored.

God reveals Himself to us in a painstakingly, methodical manner (He keeps it simple) as He prepares us to do our part in His plan. He teaches us self-control and sets our minds to hope fully on His grace which will be given us when the full knowledge of Christ is revealed.

The breakfast of champions doesn’t come in a box; it comes in a book.

  1. BTW Along with my Bible, my breakfast of champions includes your book! I am enjoying it and love the ‘down-to-earth’ simplistic style of writing. There are many times I put it down with a chuckle and always with a smile 🙂
