That’s My Answer ~ August 12

That’s My Answer

And I’m sticking to it!

But in your hearts be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1Peter 2:14

Some folks will never understand God’s love and never have hope, and that’s sad. It’s also sad that some will wander through their time on this earth knowing God, but never grasping the enormity of His love for them. Some religions teach judgment, and portray God as an angry God who punishes every misstep we take. My thinking is if God is mad every time somebody makes a mistake or commits a sin, he’s mad every minute of every day.

If you were always mad at your children, always yelling at them and punishing them, what kind of relationship would you have with them? I would predict as soon as they reached an age where they thought they could get along without you, they’d get away from you as fast as they could. On the other hand, if you taught your children with love, gentleness and respect—throwing in discipline as required, of course—they would most likely grow up respecting you and returning your love.

I’m certainly no expert on raising kids, and I’m no expert on God, but I do know love is the key. And without love, there is no hope. Because we know God loves us unconditionally, we have hope. That’s my answer and I’m sticking to it!
