That Still Small Voice ~ August 14

That Still Small Voice

Can you hear it now?

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

I like to keep things simple, and it doesn’t get any simpler than this verse. No condemnation; zero, zilch, zip. The popular question, “what part of ‘no’ do you not understand,” comes to mind.

When we turn our lives over to God and make loving Him our first priority, we are no longer under the law, but rather, the law is within us and is made to be our very nature. Obviously, it’s not like a switch you throw; it can take some time to occur, but when we begin to go in the right direction—toward God—the transformation is set in motion. We begin to recognize the still, small voice—His voice—and follow its/His advice and directions. The fact is, the voice was always there within us, but the more we focus on God, the more able we are to hear it clearly.

When we love God, we will make better decisions, and we will feel no condemnation in our hearts. That sense of doubt that comes when we make a decision and it just doesn’t feel right will become a distant memory. When we know we’ve made the right decision, we experience an entirely different feeling; it’s called joy.

  1. Thanks Charles. I am so grateful for that still small voice and for the empowering presence of Jesus that comes with it.
