My way or Your Way? ~ August 18

My way or Your Way?

It’s the same difference

So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. Romans 14:22

Each person’s relationship with God is an individual thing and we shouldn’t try to force our beliefs and the way we relate to God on others. That’s why I like to keep it simple and, like it says at the end of Mark 5:36, “only believe.” If we spend most of our time focusing on God and loving Him, we won’t have time to worry about how those around us are relating to Him.

I don’t believe it takes a lot of rules and rituals to have a loving and peace-filled relationship with God, but if you do, that’s great. But, no matter what we believe, there’s no benefit to anyone when we try to insist everyone believe and act as we do. In most instances, all that’s going to do is cause dissension and it could cause others to question their faith and even fall away from God.

We should live our lives loving God the way it works for us, and if it’s not exactly the way others think we should do it, there’s no need to argue about it, nor should we feel guilty or condemned about the way we relate to God.

There is only one thing we must do: love God. The means and methods—within reason—are up to us.
