We Can All Just Get Along ~ August 23

We Can All Just Get Along

Communication is the key

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18

On occasion, I have extolled the benefits of the Internet and how it allows us to be in constant contact with our family, friends and others. But it has also harmed us in a way; we’ve become so accustomed to communicating via emails, FaceBook, etc., we’ve stopped talking to each other. One of the dangers with communicating electronically is we don’t have to respond. We can read the post, form an opinion, then either respond, or not.

Keeping our opinions to ourselves can be one method of living at peace with everyone, but is it the best method? I think the lack of communication can be harmful to us. Too much of our angst, and even joy, is hidden from those who care about us, and I don’t think that’s healthy. We need to communicate.

As a whole, we’ve become too sensitive and as a result, our fear of saying the wrong thing is wreaking silence upon our world. We don’t have to be in complete and perfect agreement to be at peace with one another. We can discuss our feelings, our differences, and our agreements, and do so in love—we can agree to disagree if that’s what it comes to.

We can’t live at peace with one another if we don’t communicate.

Talk to me.

In this age of technology have we lost our communication skills?
