It’s Christmas Eve! ~ August 30

It’s Christmas Eve!

Well… we can wish, can’t we?

“He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’” Mark 12:6

We had Thanksgiving in July, so how ‘bout we have Christmas in August?

Close your eyes and imagine it’s Christmas Eve morning. All the shopping is done (unless you’re a guy), the turkey is in the oven, the family is home for the holiday, and peace and goodwill fill the house with love. Isn’t it wonderful?

Christmas is a time of year when most of us tend to let by-gones be by-gones and allow peace to reign… for a few days. The sad thing is, as soon as the decorations and tree are down and put away, the relatives are gone, and the mess is cleaned up, we revert to our self-centered lives. Jesus is put back on the shelf, and the love we were full of for a few days is replaced by thoughts of the daily grind we must return to. Life goes on.

I wish this wasn’t so. I wish we could hold on to the love and peace we feel on Christmas Eve. I wish we could feel loves warmth every day of the year. I think God would like that.

Can we make it happen?
