Merry Christmas! ~ August 31

Merry Christmas!

Think snow!

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Luke 2:10

Where we’re at, it usually doesn’t snow—ever! But we’re in pretend mode, so just imagine, it’s Christmas, the presents are unwrapped, the turkey is in the oven, and the kids are playing with their new things. But… is there joy?

Too many times, there is no joy, mostly because we’ve lost sight of what Christmas is really about. We should be celebrating the birth of our Savior, but, for many, it is no longer a celebration; it’s merely the day all the planning, buying, and stress of the “holiday” end. The only joy is the joy it’s over—at least until the bills come due.

It doesn’t have to be that way. If we will turn our eyes upon Jesus—every day of the year—we will begin to realize all He’s done for us, and all He means to us, and we will truly celebrate His birth. It was good news then, and it is wonderful news now! He came to take away our sins and fears, and lest anyone think they are not among those He came for, read the last four words of today’s verse. He came for all the people, and that includes you and me.

So smile! We should be celebrating!
