Knock and the Door Will Open ~ September 15

Knock and the Door Will Open

Seek and you will find

Through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2

Once again, we are reminded it isn’t our actions that gain us access to God; it’s our faith in him and His free gift of grace. And when we accept His gift, we stand with Him, surrounded by His love, and filled with His love, rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God.

I was at first a bit confused by the words, the glory of God, but then the light came on when I looked at it through my special, keep-it-simple lenses. The words simply mean we rejoice because we expect (hope) to spend eternity with God.

We don’t have to wait until we die to spend eternity with God. When we accept His grace and forgiveness, return His love, and make Him the focal point of our lives, He will come into our hearts and, in a sense, eternity will begin now.

A few lines from an old country song by Jim Reeves comes to mind: “Knock and the door will open, seek and you will find, ask and you’ll be given, the key to this world of mine. I’ll be waiting here, with my arms unfurled, waiting just for you, welcome to my world.” This is what God is saying to each of us. What a beautiful invitation.
