Think About It

I mean really think about it

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7-8

The point in these verses is that Jesus went beyond what we might do when He died for the ungodly. A man—you or me—might give our life in defense of a good man, but even that is doubtful. Jesus gave His life for even the worst of us.

Sometimes, the fact that Jesus died for me is difficult to comprehend. It can cause me to feel ashamed for not appreciating the awesome gift of love He gave me.

We, too often, take His love for granted, wandering through life, paying Him no heed (except when things aren’t going the way we think they should go). When things aren’t going our way, we seem to have no problem turning to Him then and seeking His protection and blessings.

Think about it for a moment—really think about Jesus hanging on that cross. Think of the pain—the tears streaming down His face. Did you know… they were tears of joy? Yes, His joy came from knowing He had set us free and knowing He would spend eternity with His Father… and you… and me.
