Relax!
Enjoy the journey!
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10
The closer we get to God, and the more we understand and love Him, the more we will be persecuted. This is due to the fact that those who do not know God are fearful of what they don’t understand and want to attack it as being untrue. But, through it all, we can remain at peace, knowing God is in charge and will one day greet us at the door to His kingdom and then we will be able to say we are finally there. That said, I’m not there yet, but I am headed that direction.
When I was a child and we were driving somewhere, I would force myself to go to sleep. I did so, because I knew when I awoke we would either be at our destination, or at least much closer to it. Our journey toward God can be much like those naps I took on those trips: if we allow ourselves to rest—to be at peace—as we seek God, we will cover many miles along the journey in what seems like an instant. If, on the other hand, we are tense and worrisome, constantly asking, “Are we there yet?” the journey will seem painfully slow.
