And Then… ~ October 7

And Then…

We won’t, and we will!

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Matthew 5:18

Simply put, the Law is the Law and it will never change. God’s commandments—the Law—are simple; they merely state, in common sense terms, we should love Him and follow the basic rules of love. When we do the first part—love Him—the rest will come naturally. The first four commandments could have been condensed: Love Me, and I will teach you to love others.

The last six commandments could have started with, “And then you will not…”. Do you see where I’m coming from? It’s simple, and you know how I love simple! Think about it. The commandments could just as easily read, “And then you won’t steal, And then you won’t kill, and then you won’t …”. Get it? We love God, and then the rest comes naturally as we become one with Him and become like Him. He is love, and He created us in His image so if we become like Him, we will be love, too. And then we won’t do anything He wouldn’t do. And, we will do the things He would do!

Condensed Commandments:

1. Love God.

2. Don’t do anything God wouldn’t do.

I like it!

Hi Charlie, We had a discussion about God’s Law in our Bible study Friday. I thought that if we break God’s Law then we are breaking Love. Thanks for the continued inspiration, Bob
