I Want To Be A Cherry Tree! ~ October 10

I Want To Be A Cherry Tree!

But any fruit will do!

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Our walk with Christ and love for God is often compared to fruit-bearing trees and plants; a logical parallel, if you ask me. If God is the tree and we are the branches, then the fruit must come through Him to us and be available to those who will consume it.

When we focus on God and receive His unconditional love, He fills us with His love, which is His spirit. If we continue to make Him the focal point of our life and love, it will produce fruit—the fruit of the spirit. It’s a simple formula—you know how I love simple—and our first step is to love God.

I’ve said it many times and will say it many more, but God is love, and when we are filled with His spirit, we become love. I am convinced this is what is meant when, as it says in Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him. I don’t think God created us to look like Him, but to be like Him.

Love God; be filled with His love, and be fruitful.
