That’s How It Is

And, I like it!

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27

Before Christ died for us, we had no way of reconciling our sinful self to God. Not wanting to lose us to sin and Satan, God sent Christ to do it all for us. But that wasn’t the mystery of it. No, the mystery of it was not only would Christ die for us, freeing us from sin and giving us the hope of eternal life, He would move in with us—move into us.

It makes me think of when we were little; we just rode in the car while an adult drove. When we started learning to drive, the adult would sometimes have to take over, to show us how to do it and, eventually, we were able to operate the vehicle without help. All the things we were taught remained in our minds, so in a way, the instructor—the teacher—stayed with us our whole lives.

That’s how it is with Jesus; He comes to live within our hearts and minds, teaching us and moving us toward the day when we won’t need Him. The good news is, whether we need Him or not, He’s always there. I like it!
