If You Want Something Done ~ December 12

If You Want Something Done

Tell me not to do it

To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me. Colossians 1:29

I’ve always been a rebel at heart; if I was told I had to do something, my first reaction was, “No, I don’t.” My second action, all too often, was to do the exact opposite. I don’t know why I was (still am to a degree) like that, but that was (is) me. Some folks have tried to convince me I have to do certain things in order to be a Christian. As you might guess, this tactic does not work for me. It seems the more things I try to do, the less I understand the reasons for doing them.

I’m convinced God used, and continues to use, my rebellious nature to make me into the servant He plans for me to be. He’s allowed me to experience a lot of the consequences of my own choices and rebellion and then, when I was ready, allowed me to choose to accept His call. Now, I gladly labor, struggling with all His energy, which so powerfully works within me, all the while believing He is my Savior and allowing Him to be the source of my energy and words.

I hope the words He allows me to write encourage you.
