Plant in good soil
The seed that fell among the thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. Luke 8: 14-15
In my yard, I’ve noticed when the good grass lies brown and dormant for the winter, weeds seem to thrive. Then, in the spring, I have to combat the weeds and get rid of them so the good grass can once again dominate and flourish.
One big difference between us and grass is t; God will clear the weeds from our lives if we but ask Him to. When Jesus is our source and guide, we are seeds in good soil and when we seek Him through His word, we grow and flourish. Unfortunately, we too often allow the world and its many weeds to take root around us and choke out the good stuff.
Patience is the key. When we allow God to be control, He tills our hearts for the planting of His knowledge and wisdom, and we retain His teachings.
Unlike plants, we have a choice as to the soil we take root in. Choose the good soil. It’s full of the best nutrient of all; God’s love.
