Practice Makes Perfect
And, we’re getting better every day!
That you might walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Colossians 1:10
Going back to the golf thing, I, nor anyone I play golf with, will ever play on the professional tour, but we do the best we can each time we play the game. And, therein lies the problem; most of us don’t play the game often enough to get proficient at it. To be good at golf and other sports—anything we do, for that matter—requires a lot of dedication and practice, and most of us don’t have the time to play and/or practice enough to get very good at the game.
The same is often true with regard to our spiritual walk; to be pleasing and fruitful in good works, requires focus (dedication and practice), and too often we get wrapped up in things of the world and don’t spend enough time increasing our knowledge of God.
Here’s the thing: practice makes perfect, and I think we can all agree we will never be perfect, and we’ll probably never know all there is to know about God. But, we can get better if we focus on God and increase our knowledge of Him—even just a little bit—each and every day.
