I’m The Boss!
And the buck stops here
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10
In my career, I learned a valuable lesson; I was in charge—the boss—and therefore, whatever took place on my projects was my responsibility. I took pride in doing my job well, and I was proud when the project was finished on time and within the budget, as those were the two most important aspects of the work I did.
But, I also learned I was ultimately responsible when something went wrong. Even when someone else made a mistake, I was the one who had to answer to the higher-ups. This wasn’t fun, but it had an unexpected result; it caused many of those that worked for and with me to respect me for taking responsibility for the bad, as well as the good.
As we grow closer to God, we will realize that Jesus is that kind of boss; when we sin, He stands before God in our place, and shoulders the responsibility for our actions. We are not righteous because of what we do, what we think, or what we desire; we are righteous only because we allow Jesus to stand between us and God. And, He does so, not only because it’s His job, but because He loves us.
