Can’t Sleep? ~ February 20

Can’t Sleep?

Don’t worry about it!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

I hear people these days talking about how hard it is to sleep at night, and I can relate to the problem, because there was a time when I struggled with it, too. I remember long nights, tossing and turning, staring at the alarm clock counting the hours left until I had to get up to go to work.

More often than not, the reason I couldn’t sleep was because I was worried about something; money, a relationship, work; you name it, I worried about it.

And, I admit, back then, Jesus was not in the equation.

Today’s verse is not necessarily about sleep, but it nonetheless applies. Jesus will give us rest, not only when we’re weary and burdened, but all the time. And the more time we spend with Him—focusing on Him—the less we will worry, and the more we will be at peace.

These days, I sleep in peace, knowing Jesus will take care of things while I rest. And, you know something else? If we let Him, He’ll take care of things while we’re awake, too.
